I couldn't resist. I bought this last night on impulse. I have been SO GOOD about not buying new things for my apartment until I move in - but this hook was calling my name. It will be perfect for hanging my hats and necklaces. RIGHT ABOVE MY ZEBRA CHAIR! I have a problem.
So the Jessica Alba dress that I drooled over has been found! Kinda. I won this lacy vintage dress off ebay and it will arrive just in time for me to wear to a few holiday cocktail parties! I cannot wait. Thank God for my awesome ebay-ing skills. This dress only set me back $20 including shipping...which is a heck of a lot cheaper than the Alba version.
After reading about the sun jar on several blogs, I finally got one! It's awesome. It charges all day via solar power (I just stick it on my window sill) and as soon as it gets dark in the apartment, it lights up! It's amazing. Hopefully it will be strong enough to light up my room so we can use less electricity..but it's been too cloudy these past few days to know for sure. Yay for solar power!
After an impulsive trip to Payless the other day, I scooped up these two awesome shoes. Now I know cheap shoes aren't good for your feet - but I got both of these for a grand total of $30 (yay BOGO!) so I'm gonna suck it up and strut.
What a weekend. I haven't had so much fun (or drank so much...ouch) in quite awhile. It was a double birthday weekend as well as the arrival of one of my dearest friends in town from Chicago. Needless to say I did not leave the couch all day yesterday except to eat some pizza for dinner. I'm sad it is all over. Tonight I have to do some major grocery/cleaning product shopping since my home is in ruins. I have to pick up some cookie batter so I can use these great Martha Stewart bags I picked up from Michael's. I am officially obsessed with Marty's craft line as well as the Michael's near my apartment. I'm a nerd.
After a recent excursion to Target, I've realized they have a plethora of amazingly stylish bags for the fall - and on the cheap! These are the two that I am going to purchase this weekend (so I can look hip in San Fran):

I'm so sad the weekend is over. I had a great time in Port Washington with my closes pals. We did lots of BBQing, drinking, and sunning. But my biggest feat for the weekend was to put up some curtains. How hard is this you ask? Difficult considering that a) I had yet to make these curtains and b) I don't own a sewing machine. The curtains you are about to see were sewn BY HAND. After three hours and back-to-back episodes of "America's Next Top Model" - my mission has been completed.
I was also able to put up some curtains on the small windows in the living room/bar area. These were from the Marty collection at KMart.
Now that all my apartment windows are covered - I can finally walk around in my skivvies. Yay!
Yay for summer fridays! It means I can get home early and try to do some projects around the house before I head out to Long Island this weekend. On the agenda today is finally getting curtains up. My special order rods arrived from Country Curtains yesterday - and today I'm turning this tapestry I got from Target into curtains for the bedroom.
I really wanted to save up for the marimekko "carrie" curtains but these are pretty similar. Plus it's easier to turn an already giant piece of cut fabric into curtains. I'll post pics of the finished project when I'm done.
I also need some suggestions on what to hang above my bed. Since the headboard is pretty large and looming, I thought something simple like these hanging votives might do the trick.
Got 'em! Like my new tablecloth and napkins? I've been eyeing these forever from Anthropologie and scooped them up when I saw them on the sale table last week. They look great on my kitchen table and the vibrant colors really punch up the space. Even Porkchop likes them!
