Did anyone read this article in the Times today? I thought it was pretty interesting and lots of great points were made about how fashion and home decor intersect. However - necklaces and shawls for your furniture? Gimme a fricken break.

Viva Portugal!

Wow. Look at this great post I found over at CasaSugar. Portugal has come up with the world's first commercial wave factory! Opening off the coast of northern Portugal at Agucadoura, the expected total output of the wave plant should be enough to power around 2,000 homes. The wave farm is expected to be operational within the end of the year. This is crazy amazing news. Read more about the story here. Porkchop, aren't you proud?

EcoFest.

If you're in the NYC area this weekend, make sure you head over to EcoFest at Lincoln Center. It's the largest environmental fest that takes place on the east coast - and I'm psyched to check out all the vendors and entertainment. Lots Of Leg.

One thing that has always influenced furniture design has been the anatomy of animals. I've always loved clawfooted tables, but this article in the LA Times made me realize how far back this trend dates. Lion paws and horse hoofs have influenced furniture from Chippendales to neoclassical styles as far back as the 18th century. Maybe I'll design a little end table influenced by Watty's cute paws. I really loved this article that I read in the Times today about this actor who is also heavily into decorating. He and his partner have a pretty cool pad, but what really impressed me what the paint choices. For example, the chocolate brown dining room is amazing. I love that he paired bright white chairs in the room. Everything really pops and it looks like you're sitting in a tub of chocolate. Yum.

Also love the gray walls in the guest bedroom of their home. Gray is such a masculine, sexy color. I'd love to have a gray bedroom one day ... with ballet slipper pink accents!

Tim Gunn.

In the most recent issue of House and Garden, Tim Gunn's apartment is exposed. It wasn't as FAB as I thought it would be - but it makes sense. He has a very eastern aesthetic and while it isn't my style, it suits him well. Gotta love those cobalt walls though. Make it work Timmy!

Pink Velvet Bed.

I just saw this bed in the NY Times this morning and I had to blog about it. It's a pink, velvet bed. What's not to love? I love the grid pattern.
