Bday - Take 2!

Since my first birthday party did not go as planned - I am most likely throwing myself another one next weekend. This time it is going to be very low-key with no pre-gaming. This oldie has learned her lesson. How come people don't send out actual invitations anymore? How sad is that? Evite has taken over the world. If I practiced what I preached, I would send these lovely ones out.

We're 1!

How could I forget! This past weekend was this blog's first birthday! Hurray! Thanks to everyone who has read Dachsies&Design since day 1 - it does not go unnoticed! I got chills thinking about how I posted a fresh start today - things in my life were much different a year ago today, but I wouldn't have it any other way! HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO US! I'm about to treat myself to one of these Hi-Hat cupcakes.

The Ultimate.

If I could receive just one item this year on my birthday, it would be the Marc Jacobs distinguished dot tote. I have longed for this bag since I first laid eyes on it at Bloomie's. It's the perfect size, color and attitude. And if I don't get it for my birthday (because let's be honest, I won't) then I might just buy it for myself!

Gift Cards Are Not Lame.

I honestly think the smartest gift anyone can give me this year would be a Target gift card. That way I can buy this, this and this.

Simple does it again. Have I mentioned I've worn this brand for twelve years now? I'm not kidding. I started wearing them way before green was in - and way before I even knew what a carbon footprint was. I'm wild about their new eco line - I just don't know what one to pick! Polka dots, stripes.... straps, slip ons... this is too much for me to handle.

Speak Easy.

To throw a party that's the cat's meow - one would need to channel the 1920's and throw a speakeasy themed bash. Here's what you'd need.

Lighting is key. It has to be black chandeliers and candlelight.

Line the walls and doorway with red velvet curtains (tassels encouraged, but not required).

The only food and beverages allowed are chocolate cigars (I'm not a smoker) and bathtub gin.

And of course, one must dress properly.

And don't forget to speak in the correct tongue.

Lists.

Next on my birthday list (not like I need these really, but that's what birthdays are for) are these Kate Spade notebooks. I tend to prefer listmaking on notepads - and not notebooks. When you open and close notebooks there are always awkward creases, etc. So, yeah. I want these. In pink. And green.

Pink Party.

I have had the worst time trying to figure out what I want to do for my birthday this year. Part of me wants to have a big night out with my friends - the other part of me wants to stay in and eat cake on the couch. I've decided to inspire myself with different themes this week - first up... pink party!

First things first - a pink cake eaten on pink plates.

Sip some pink champagne in pink goblets...

And dance the night away in a pink dress under some pink decor!

Next on the wish list - a marimekko tray. I need something to store my perfume bottles and jewelry on. I can't believe some people actually use these for appetizers. Pffft.
